Georgina Rodriguez has deepened the uncertainty surrounding reports that she and Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo were due to marry in Madeira.

The Argentine model, 32, was expected to marry the Portugal legend at Funchal Cathedral on the previous day, before the couple attended a lavish reception at a hotel. However, no wedding ceremony took place, leaving supporters confused about the pair’s reported plans.

According to The Sun, Ronaldo and Rodriguez were believed to be preparing to marry on the island of Madeira, the forward’s birthplace. Yet the cathedral’s bells did not ring for the couple, despite speculation that their wedding would take place there.

Fans had gathered along the streets outside Funchal Cathedral, hoping to see Ronaldo and his partner. Their wait ended without an appearance from the pair.

The supporters’ disappointment increased when another couple was seen leaving the cathedral instead. The scene fuelled further uncertainty over whether the proposed ceremony had been postponed, moved or had not been scheduled in the first place.

Rodriguez has now added to the mystery with a short video posted on her Instagram Stories. Rather than sharing details of a wedding or appearing at a formal celebration, she showed herself enjoying a relaxed day.

She also unexpectedly tagged the clothing brand featured in the image. Rodriguez was wearing tracksuit trousers in the post, a notably casual look that prompted fresh questions among followers about when she might marry Ronaldo.

The latest development has led to renewed speculation about the relationship between Rodriguez and Ronaldo, who is 41. The couple have not appeared at a wedding ceremony at Funchal Cathedral, despite the expectation that the event would take place there.

Less than two weeks ago, Ronaldo was seen wearing a diamond ring. That sighting led to suggestions that he and Rodriguez would become husband and wife within days.

Those expectations were not met at the cathedral, however, and the couple’s absence has left their followers seeking clarity over the timing of any marriage plans.
