George Saleh: Nigerian midfielder joins Unirea Alba Iulia on loan from Viitorul Cluj
Nigerian midfielder George Saleh has joined Romanian side Unirea Alba Iulia on loan from Viitorul Cluj. The 20-year-old central midfielder will spend the 2026-27 campaign with the Alba-based club after the deal was finalised on 15 July 2026.
Saleh, who operates primarily in central midfield, moves within Romania as he looks to take the next step in his development with regular senior football. The agreement is a straight loan transfer, with Saleh scheduled to return to Viitorul Cluj at the end of the season.
He arrived at Viitorul Cluj in November 2025 from Ikon Allah FA, making the switch from Nigeria to Romania as part of his first move into European football. The loan to Unirea Alba Iulia marks his second club in Romania and his first temporary spell away from Viitorul since that move.
Born on 3 April 2006, Saleh is part of a growing group of Nigerian players seeking opportunities in Eastern Europe. His central midfield role is expected to add depth and competition in the middle of the park for Unirea Alba Iulia as they build for the new season.
Saleh’s contract with Viitorul Cluj remains in place, with the player due to rejoin his parent club when the loan at Unirea Alba Iulia concludes on 30 June 2027.
