George Asamoah: Ghana midfielder joins Ethnikos Assias on free transfer
Ghanaian midfielder George Asamoah has joined Ethnikos Assias from MEAP Nisou on a free transfer, completing his move to the Cyprus club on 9 September 2026.
The 28-year-old central midfielder has agreed a contract running until 31 May 2027. Asamoah becomes part of the Ethnikos Assias squad after four seasons with MEAP Nisou, where he made 64 appearances in the 2. Division and scored once.
Asamoah’s move brings to an end his time with MEAP, whom he joined from Great Olympics in August 2022 without a transfer fee. He had previously spent the 2021-22 season with Great Olympics after leaving Ebusua Dwarfs.
The Accra-born player has also featured in Ghana’s Premier League during his career, recording 62 appearances, four goals and two assists in the competition. His other recorded experience includes appearances in promotion and relegation play-offs in the 2. Division.
Asamoah is listed as a left-footed midfielder and stands 1.78m tall. His earlier career included spells with WAFA SC and Inter Allies, alongside periods as a free agent before moving to Ebusua Dwarfs in October 2020.
His arrival gives Ethnikos Assias a midfielder with experience across Ghanaian and Cypriot football, as well as more than 160 recorded appearances across league and play-off competitions. The agreement keeps him at the club through the end of May 2027.
Asamoah has now completed his free transfer from MEAP Nisou to Ethnikos Assias.
