KAA Gent failed to capture the signing of AS Trencin wonderkid, Emmanuel Uchegbu nicknamed the ‘Nigerian Arjen Robben’ before the close of the european winter transfer window.
It is understood that discussions are still ongoing for a possible summer transfer.
Trencin have put a price tag of around 2.5 million euros for the speedy winger, who has one of the most dribbling success rates in the Slovakian top flight.
Dutch giants Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are also understood to be monitoring the player.
Furthermore, two Major League Soccer clubs have contacted Trencin to express their interest in acquiring the winger.
However, a close source indicates the player’s family prefers he remain in Europe.
Trencin have a proven track record of successfully transferring players to the Belgian Pro League.
Illustrative examples include Leon Bailey to Genk, Moses Simon to Gent, Wesley Moraes to Club Brugge, Kalu Samuel to Gent, and Osman Bukari to Gent.
Uchegbu appears to be the next in line in this series of successful transfers.
The 20-year-old has made 20 appearances across all competitions this season with five goals and two assists.
