Gennaro Gattuso, the former AC Milan defensive midfielder turned coach, has been relieved of his duties at Palermo after just six days into the championship. The decision came after Palermo suffered a 2-1 defeat against Bari. Gattuso, appointed on June 3, was tasked with leading Palermo back to Serie A after their relegation last season. However, the team’s performance, with two victories, a draw, and three defeats in six matches, did not meet the expectations of Palermo’s president, Maurizio Zamparini. This marks Gattuso’s second dismissal in his coaching career, following his previous exit from the Swiss club FC Sion in May.
