Bari have completed the signing of Gambian midfielder Ebrima Darboe, with the 24-year-old leaving AS Roma to join the Serie B side on a free transfer.
He has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.
Darboe, who graduated from Roma’s youth academy, first broke into the senior team in 2021, making his debut under then-manager José Mourinho.
Despite early flashes of promise in the Italian capital, he found consistent playing time difficult to secure, which ultimately paved the way for his departure.
Bari see his arrival as a crucial addition to their midfield options, with his technical quality, composure on the ball, and relentless work ethic expected to enhance their push for promotion to Serie A.
Club officials are convinced that the Gambian’s attributes fit well with the demands of a side eager to compete at the highest level of Italian football once again.
For Darboe, the switch offers the opportunity to reset his career and establish himself as a regular starter. A long-term contract also signals the faith Bari have placed in his potential, giving him stability as he works to further his development in Italy.
The midfielder will be hoping to rediscover the rhythm that saw him tipped as one of Roma’s promising young prospects just a few years ago. Bari, meanwhile, will look to harness his energy and creativity as they chase a return to the top flight.
