Saikou Conteh has joined Al-Qwarah from fellow Saudi Arabian club Wej SC on a free transfer, giving the 31-year-old Gambian winger a new destination for the 2026-27 season.

Conteh, who operates on the left wing and favours his left foot, has signed a contract with Al-Qwarah running until 30 June 2027. The move was completed on 24 August 2026.

He arrives after a short spell with Wej, having joined the club in January 2026 following his departure from Hajer. Conteh’s move to Wej was the latest in a series of transfers that have taken him through clubs in Saudi Arabia and Egypt during the past decade.

Before joining Wej, Conteh spent the first half of the 2025-26 season with Hajer. He had moved to Hajer from Qanah in August 2025 on a free transfer, adding another chapter to a career that has largely been built through moves between clubs outside the top European leagues.

Conteh previously represented Qanah after leaving Ismaily in July 2022. That transfer was completed for €70,000, while his move from El Sekka SC to Ismaily earlier that year carried a fee of €45,000.

His career also includes spells with El Minya, Teungueth FC, El Mokawloon, ASC Jaraaf and Steve Biko FC. He joined El Minya from Teungueth FC in July 2019, after moving to the Senegalese club from El Mokawloon the previous year. Earlier in his career, he had played for ASC Jaraaf and Steve Biko FC.

Conteh’s recorded appearances include six in the Premier League and three in the Egyptian League Cup. He now begins a new contract with Al-Qwarah, who have secured the Gambian wide player without a transfer fee.
