Galatasaray weigh reunion with Spartak Moscow midfielder Gedson Fernandes
Gedson Fernandes, the Portuguese midfielder at Spartak Moscow, has been linked with a move to Galatasaray in a potential switch from Russia’s Premier Liga to Turkey’s Super Lig.
Fernandes, 27, joined Spartak from Besiktas on 31 July 2025 for a reported €20.78m and remains under contract until 30 June 2029. The central midfielder’s market value is listed at €16m.
He has made four appearances in the Premier Liga this season, playing 326 minutes without scoring or assisting. Fernandes has also featured in the Russian Cup, where he supplied one assist, and started Spartak’s Russian Super Cup match.
The Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe international was part of Spartak’s Russian Cup-winning side in 2026. He previously spent time at Galatasaray on loan from Benfica during the 2020-21 season, before returning to the Portuguese club.
Fernandes began his senior career with Benfica and later had loan spells at Tottenham, Galatasaray and C. Rizespor before joining Besiktas permanently in 2022. He won the Turkish Cup with Besiktas in the 2023-24 campaign and the Turkish Super Cup the following season.
The latest rumour places Galatasaray among the clubs considering Fernandes, although no transfer fee or agreement has been established. His long-term Spartak contract remains in place.
