Galatasaray sign Lesley Ugochukwu from Burnley

Galatasaray have completed the signing of Lesley Ugochukwu from Burnley in a deal worth €30 million, ending his brief spell in England after one season.

The Turkish champions announced the move in a club video, showing they moved quickly to secure the 22-year-old midfielder for their next campaign.

Ugochukwu arrives in Istanbul after a busy but difficult year at Burnley. He joined the Clarets from Chelsea last summer for €28.7 million and made 38 appearances across the 2025/26 season, but he could not help the club avoid relegation from the Premier League. Burnley finished 19th after a tough campaign, which made a summer exit increasingly likely.

Before his time in England, Ugochukwu had already built a strong reputation at Rennes. He broke into the first team during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, playing 44 Ligue 1 matches and helping the French side qualify for European competition.

Chelsea then signed him in August 2023 for around £23 million, but his path there included only limited starts and a loan spell at Southampton, where he featured 26 times in the Premier League.
