Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has confirmed that Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech will part ways with the club during the upcoming January transfer window.
Ziyech, 31, who initially joined Galatasaray on loan for the second half of last season before making the move permanent, has endured a challenging spell in Istanbul. This season, he has started just three matches, a situation that has left him openly frustrated and eager to seek opportunities elsewhere.
Speaking about his decision to leave, Ziyech didn’t hold back in criticising both the club and Buruk.
“Galatasaray is over for me. I don’t want to play here any more. I’m leaving in January,” Ziyech stated. “I’ve never seen a coach of such a low level. I don’t care that much [if joining Galatasaray was a mistake]. I want to be left alone, no matter what happens. I regret coming here.”
Responding to Ziyech’s remarks, Buruk acknowledged the winger’s dissatisfaction and imminent departure.
“I have spoken with Ziyech. He has told us that he is not happy with his playing time and he will have talks with other teams when the transfer window opens,” Buruk said. “He is not happy because he is not playing and he is close to leaving the club.”
Ziyech’s potential departure has already attracted attention from several clubs, including Ligue 1’s Rennes and multiple Premier League teams. However, his high salary demands could pose challenges for interested parties as negotiations gear up for the January transfer window.
The winger’s exit would mark the end of a turbulent chapter at Galatasaray and pave the way for a fresh start elsewhere as he looks to reignite his career.
