Galatasaray icon Sabri Sarioglu has weighed in on the ongoing speculation surrounding Hakim Ziyech’s future at the Turkish club. In an interview with Le Site Info, the former Galatasaray captain expressed his belief that the Moroccan international should remain with the team despite recent challenges.
Sarioglu acknowledged that Ziyech is currently experiencing a difficult phase at the start of the season, suggesting that the midfielder needs to rebuild his confidence.
“At the beginning of the season, Hakim Ziyech is going through a bad patch. He needs to gain more confidence,” Sarioglu stated.
He drew comparisons to past teammates who exhibited similar characteristics, noting that Ziyech’s talent is undeniable.
“He is so talented. But his self-confidence can be shaken if he does not feel loved and appreciated by the coach and his teammates,” Sarioglu added.
The Galatasaray legend argued that parting ways with Ziyech would be a significant error.
“What is certain is that Ziyech’s departure would be a big mistake. He is capable of regaining his confidence and helping the team win titles,” Sarioglu emphasized.
Sarioglu also provided insight into the decision made by Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, to bench Ziyech following the Champions League match against Young Boys.
“He replaced him at half-time, considering that he was not in top form. In my opinion, the whole team was not at the level that day,” Sarioglu remarked.
As Galatasaray navigates a challenging season, Sarioglu’s comments highlight the importance of supporting players like Ziyech during periods of adversity.
The call for patience and encouragement underscores the belief that Ziyech can still play a pivotal role in the team’s success.
