Dany Nounkeu’s situation at Galatasaray changed significantly with the arrival of Cesare Prandelli. Once a regular under previous management, Nounkeu was no longer in the Italian coach’s plans and began searching for a way out during the 2014 summer transfer window.
According to Footmercato, Granada CF, a club in Spain’s La Liga, showed interest in signing him on loan. If that deal had gone through, Nounkeu would have joined fellow former Ligue 1 players Youssef El Arabi and Aly Sissoko, who were already part of the Granada squad at the time.
Nounkeu, who had previously played in Ligue 1 with Toulouse and Gazélec Ajaccio, had 18 caps for Cameroon and was known for his physicality and defensive discipline. A move to Spain would have offered him a chance to reboot his club career, especially after falling out of favor in Turkey.
Whether the loan eventually happened would depend on final negotiations and the closing stages of the transfer window.
