Galatasaray confirm Victor Osimhen knee surgery

Galatasaray have been dealt an injury blow after confirming that Victor Osimhen will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

The Nigerian striker sustained the injury during the club’s UEFA Champions League meeting with VfB Stuttgart. Medical examinations, including an MRI scan, revealed a loose fragment in the knee, prompting the club to arrange an operation.

Galatasaray announced that the procedure is scheduled to take place at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, with club doctor Yener İnce overseeing the surgery. The forward has also been withdrawn from the squad for Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig fixture against Amed Sportif Faaliyetler.

The development comes at an inconvenient time for the Istanbul side, who will now have to manage without one of their key attacking players while he undergoes treatment and rehabilitation.

Osimhen’s absence could also concern Nigeria, with the Super Eagles preparing for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Tanzania.

However, Galatasaray have not provided an estimate for the striker’s recovery. His return will be determined after the operation and will depend on his response to rehabilitation.

The club and supporters will now await further medical updates on the 27-year-old’s condition.
