Gabriel Osho has expressed unwavering confidence in Nigeria’s ability to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite a challenging start to their qualification campaign.

The Super Eagles defender reassured fans with a resolute statement: “We are going to participate in the 2026 World Cup.

Currently sitting fifth in Group C with only three points from four matches, Nigeria’s prospects seem uncertain.

The team is trailing group leaders Rwanda by four points, putting them in a difficult position with just six more games to play.

Despite these setbacks, Osho remains optimistic about their chances of turning the situation around.

We have to focus on the World Cup and AFCON qualifiers, Osho said in a recent interview with Flashcore.

After our last competition, our goal is to progress and triumph.

I think we have enough talent. The defender’s belief in his team’s potential is evident, as he stresses the importance of perseverance in the remaining qualifiers.

Osho also praised the quality of Nigeria’s squad, emphasizing that the Super Eagles have the potential to be “the best team in Africa.

He added, “It is time to show it on the big stage. We have to play to the best of our ability.

I am confident we can do it. Qualifying is long in this format so we still have time.

His comments reflect the sense of urgency but also the belief that Nigeria’s talent can propel them through the qualifying rounds.

To the fans, Osho reassured them of the team’s determination: “Everyone is looking forward to the World Cup, and I am sure we will do everything we can.

God willing, we will qualify.” The Super Eagles will next face Rwanda in a crucial match in March 2025, with Osho and his teammates aware that a win is essential to keeping their World Cup dreams alive.

Osho’s path to international football has been a journey marked by resilience.

Born in England, he was called up by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after Luton Town’s promotion to the Premier League in 2023.

However, injuries delayed his debut with the national team, and he missed the March 2024 gatherings due to a knee issue.

Osho finally made his international debut in November 2024, replacing the unavailable Semi Ajayi.

Reflecting on this milestone, he described the experience as a “special and overwhelming moment,” filled with pride for both himself and his family.

Since joining the Super Eagles, Osho has integrated well with the team, forging strong bonds with teammates such as Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, and Alex Iwobi.

Their familiarity helped him settle in quickly, and he has embraced the responsibility of representing Nigeria on the global stage.

Osho’s form at the club level has been equally impressive.

Now playing for AJ Auxerre in France’s Ligue 2, he has made a notable impact, scoring his first goal for the club in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Lens.

This form is sure to bolster his confidence heading into the critical months of Nigeria’s World Cup qualification campaign.

Looking ahead, Osho has clear objectives for both club and country.

He remains focused on helping Nigeria qualify for the 2026 World Cup while aiming for a continental title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

With a combination of talent, determination, and a clear goal, Osho is committed to playing his part in restoring Nigeria to the world stage.
