Gabon international forward Aaron Boupendza is set to make a significant move to Egyptian giants Zamalek SC after his departure from MLS club FC Cincinnati.
The 28-year-old striker, who recently became a free agent, has signed a preliminary three-year contract with the Cairo-based club and is expected to finalize the transfer in the coming days.
Boupendza, valued at 5 million Euros, brings versatility to Zamalek’s attacking lineup, capable of playing as both a central striker and on the wings.
His arrival marks Zamalek’s second major signing of the summer, following the acquisition of Mahmoud Bentayg from AS Saint-Etienne.
The Gabonese international began his career at CF Mouanana in Gabon before moving to Europe in 2016, where he had stints with Bordeaux, Pau FC, Ajaccio, and Tours FC in France, as well as Feirense in Portugal.
Boupendza also played for Hatayspor in Turkey, Al-Arabi in Qatar, and Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia before his recent venture into MLS.
A record of 78 goals and 18 assists in 190 club appearances, along with eight goals in 35 appearances for the Gabonese national team.
Boupendza is expected to make a significant impact at Zamalek as they bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
