Gabon secured a convincing 2-0 victory over the Central African Republic in their Group B qualifier for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The match, held on Tuesday evening in Franceville, was crucial for both teams as they vie for a spot in the continental tournament.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put Gabon ahead with a penalty in the 11th minute, showcasing his prowess from the spot.

The Panthers extended their lead just before halftime when right winger Shavy Babicka netted in the 39th minute, sealing a solid first-half performance for the hosts.

This win propels Gabon into second place in Group B with three points.

They are now closely positioned behind Morocco, who lead the group following their narrow 1-0 victory over Lesotho on Monday.

The Central African Republic, despite their defeat, also holds three points but finds themselves in third place due to the goal difference.

The victory for Gabon is a significant boost as they continue their campaign for a spot in the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

This result sets the stage for an intriguing continuation of the qualifiers as teams battle for their place in the tournament hosted by Morocco.
