Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on target for Deportivo La Coruna

Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made an immediate impact on his Deportivo de La Coruña debut, scoring in the club’s opening La Liga match of the 2026/27 season against Elche.

Aubameyang joined Deportivo from Marseille during the summer transfer window and wasted no time announcing himself to the Spanish top flight.

Making his first league appearance for the club at the Estadio Municipal de Riazor, Aubameyang opened the scoring in the 21st minute to put Deportivo ahead against Elche.

The 37-year-old striker showed his trademark finishing ability to give the home supporters an early moment to celebrate and get his career in Spain off to a perfect start.

The goal was particularly significant as it marked Aubameyang’s first for Deportivo since completing his move from Marseille.

After enjoying a productive spell in France, the veteran forward will be expected to provide experience and goals as Deportivo begin their campaign in La Liga.

Aubameyang scored 10 goals and provided five assists for Marseille in the French league last season, underlining his continued effectiveness in front of goal despite being in the latter stages of his career.

His early strike against Elche will therefore come as an encouraging sign for Deportivo, who will be hoping the Gabonese forward can maintain his scoring form throughout the season.

For Aubameyang, the goal represents an ideal beginning to his new adventure in Spain and another opportunity to prove that he can still make a major impact at the highest level of European football.
