Gabon star Aubameyang continues flying start at Deportivo with third straight La Liga goal
Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made an impressive start to life at Deportivo de La Coruña, with the Gabonese striker continuing his remarkable scoring form in the Spanish league.
The 37-year-old was once again on the scoresheet on Sunday, August 30, playing a key role in Deportivo’s 3-1 victory over Valencia on matchday three of La Liga.
Deportivo had already taken the lead in the 13th minute, but Aubameyang wasted little time adding to the advantage. Just four minutes later, the experienced forward found the back of the net to double his side’s lead and put Deportivo 2-0 ahead.
The goal capped another outstanding individual display from the Gabon international and extended his remarkable scoring run since arriving at the club from Marseille this summer.
Aubameyang had already announced himself on the opening day of the campaign when he scored against Elche in a 1-1 draw. He followed that up by finding the net again in the second round against Málaga, another match that ended 1-1.
His strike against Valencia means Aubameyang has now scored in each of Deportivo’s first three La Liga matches, giving him three goals in as many league appearances.
His consistency in front of goal has provided Deportivo with an experienced and proven attacking presence as they look to make a strong impression in the Spanish top flight.
Despite being 37, Aubameyang continues to demonstrate the qualities that have made him one of Africa’s most prolific forwards of his generation. His pace, movement, positioning and instinct inside the penalty area remain evident, with his early-season form suggesting he still has plenty to offer at the highest level.
Having only joined Deportivo a few weeks ago, the Gabonese striker has already become an important figure in the team and is quickly winning over the club’s supporters.
With three goals from his opening three league games, Aubameyang’s start could hardly have been better. The veteran forward will now be hoping to maintain his scoring streak and help Deportivo build momentum as the La Liga season progresses.
