CF Mounana, the reigning champion of Gabon, is aiming to defend its title in the country’s first professional football championship. FC Sapins, featuring Daniel Cousin, and US Bitam, the runner-up from the previous year, are among the contenders. FC Missile, the winner of National Football in 2011, has strengthened its squad with the addition of junior international striker Axel Meye. Other teams like Mangasport, AS Pélican, and US Oyem are also expected to compete fiercely. The first professional football championship in Gabon begins on September 29, featuring fourteen participating clubs. The new format aims to promote a competitive championship, introduce professional management tools in club management, and secure financing from various sources, including the Gabonese government, which has allocated 12 billion FCFA for the operation.
