Mario Lemina extends his stay with Turkish champions Galatasaray for two more seasons

Gabon international Mario Lemina is set to remain at Galatasaray after reportedly agreeing a new two-year contract with the Turkish champions following the expiry of his previous deal.

The midfielder had become a free agent on 30 June after his contract came to an end, but his future now appears to have been resolved with an agreement that will extend his stay in Istanbul.

According to an exclusive report by Foot Mercato, Lemina has signed a fresh two-year contract with Galatasaray, allowing the club to retain one of its experienced midfielders without paying a transfer fee.

The new agreement comes after a series of consistent performances that established the Gabon international as an important member of the squad in both domestic and European competitions.

Lemina returned to Galatasaray in February 2025 after joining from Wolverhampton, quickly earning the trust of the coaching staff with his displays in midfield.

Since his arrival, he has featured regularly in the Turkish Süper Lig while also playing a significant role during the club’s UEFA Champions League campaign.

His ability to provide balance and experience in midfield helped him become a dependable option as Galatasaray competed on multiple fronts throughout the season.

One of the standout moments of his spell came during the Champions League knockout stage, where he was part of the side that secured a notable first-leg victory over Liverpool in the round of 16.

Those performances are understood to have convinced the Turkish champions that Lemina remained an important part of their plans moving forward.

Rather than allowing the experienced midfielder to leave after the expiration of his contract, the club have reportedly opted to continue the partnership with a new long-term agreement.

The deal also ensures continuity within the squad as Galatasaray prepare for another campaign in which they will aim to challenge domestically while competing on the European stage.

For Lemina, the extension offers the opportunity to continue building on a successful second spell with the Istanbul club after quickly re-establishing himself following his move from England.

The Gabon international has continued to demonstrate his value through consistent performances and experience, qualities that have made him a key figure in the middle of the pitch.

With the new agreement now reportedly completed, Lemina is expected to remain at Galatasaray for at least the next two seasons as the club looks to maintain stability within its squad ahead of the new campaign.
