Gabonese sports authorities are considering Fernando Santos and Carlos Queiroz, both Portuguese coaches, as potential candidates to coach the Gabon Panthers. Santos currently coaches the Greek national team, while Queiroz is coaching the Iran team. The decision is pending, with the Federation needing to finalize its choice.
A Gabonese delegation is expected to travel to Europe, particularly Switzerland, for discussions with the coaches. However, even if an agreement is reached, both Santos and Queiroz will only take charge of the Panthers after the 2014 World Cup, as they will still be involved with their respective national teams for the tournament.
