The standardization committee of FEGAFOOT (Fédération Gabonaise de Football), chaired by Dieudonné Ndoumbou, has received an extension of its mandate from FIFA. This committee was established in mid-April to restore order to Gabonese football after the controversial election of Jean de Dieu Moukagni-Iwangou.
Originally set to conclude its mission by October 31, the committee’s mandate has now been extended until December 2013. This extension allows the committee sufficient time to finalize the revision of the Federation’s statutes and to oversee the upcoming elections.
The need for FIFA’s intervention arose following the tumultuous election in March, during which the elected team reportedly mistreated FIFA representatives sent to Libreville. To address the resulting chaos in Gabonese football, FIFA instituted the Normalization Committee to bring stability and facilitate the election of a new FEGAFOOT leadership.
