GABON CUP: CF MOUNANA BUS STONED

The Gabon Cup final between US Bitam and CF Mounana (0-2) became tense as Bitam supporters interrupted the match for over 15 minutes. The unrest stemmed from dissatisfaction with Mounana’s second goal, with fans feeling that the striker was offside.

After the match, as Mounana celebrated their victory in the stadium, Bitam supporters continued to express their discontent by vandalizing the victorious team’s bus. This regrettable scene drew criticism from the leaders of Bitam.

René Ndemezo’o Obiang, chairman of the supervisory committee of the Bitam Sports Union (USB), denounced the actions of the unruly supporters, emphasizing that USB is a great team and that defeats are inevitable. He stated, “We cannot accept that individuals dressed in the colors of USB engage in acts of vandalism because we have lost. And Mounana deserved his victory even if there were arbitration problems here and there. The chairman of the supervisory committee that I am, and the steering committee, totally disapprove of this kind of behavior.” The condemnation reflects a commitment to fair play and sportsmanship despite the emotional intensity of the match.
