The reference was to previous Madrid derbies and the lingering emotions surrounding them, although the source of the post did not provide further explanation.

The latest episode adds to an already heated confrontation between the capital’s two leading clubs. While Atletico’s victory and the performances of Giuliano Simeone and Kang-in Lee settled the result on the pitch, the post-match exchanges have shifted attention towards the benches and the conduct of those involved.
