Fulham sign Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia on deal until 2031

Fulham have signed Spanish forward Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee, with the 22-year-old agreeing a contract that runs until the summer of 2031.

The deal includes an option for Fulham to extend the agreement by a further year. Garcia will now begin a new chapter in the Premier League after developing through Real Madrid’s academy and making his senior debut for the Spanish club.

“I am very grateful and very happy to be here,” Garcia said after completing the move.

“I would like to thank the club’s board and Alvaro Arbeloa for the confidence they have shown in me. I am very excited to start this experience.”

Fulham chief executive Tony Khan welcomed the forward to Craven Cottage and said he believed Garcia would make a significant contribution under manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

“I am delighted to welcome Gonzalo Garcia to Fulham,” said Khan. “He is a very talented young striker, and he is excited to come to Fulham and play in the Premier League.”

“We all believe he will be a great addition to the squad and will prove to be an exceptional player under Alvaro Arbeloa.”

Garcia joined Real Madrid’s academy at the age of 10, although he spent one season with the Mallorca academy before returning to the Spanish club in 2019.

His progress accelerated while he worked under Arbeloa in Real Madrid’s youth teams. During the 2023-24 season, Garcia scored 35 goals and helped the Under-19 side complete a historic treble.

The following campaign brought further recognition with Real Madrid Castilla. Garcia contributed to 29 goals in 36 appearances, scoring 25 and providing four assists. Nineteen of those goal contributions came while he was used on either the right or left wing.

Garcia also scored his first goal for Real Madrid’s senior side that season, finding the net late in a Copa del Rey match against Leganes to secure victory.

He attracted further attention at the FIFA Club World Cup, where he finished as the tournament’s leading scorer after scoring four goals and supplying one assist. Real Madrid were eliminated in the semi-finals, but Garcia’s performances earned praise from then-manager Xabi Alonso, who compared him with Real Madrid great Raul Gonzalez.

Last season, Garcia made 39 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring eight goals and creating three more.

One of his outstanding displays came against Real Betis, when he scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory. The three goals demonstrated different aspects of his finishing: a header, a first-time strike after controlling the ball with his chest, and a skilful finish inside the penalty area.

Those performances brought Garcia into contention for Spain’s squad before the 2026 World Cup. Although he was not included in the final selection, he made his senior international debut in one of Spain’s warm-up friendlies.

Before that, Garcia had represented Spain at Under-21 level, scoring six goals in seven matches. He wore the number seven shirt for the Under-21 side and will use the same number at Fulham.
