Fulham announced on Monday that Luis Boa Morte, currently serving as the first-team coach, will be departing at the end of the season to assume the role of head coach for Guinea Bissau.
Boa Morte, a familiar face at Craven Cottage, initially played for Fulham from 2000 to 2007 before returning in 2021 to join Marco Silva’s coaching staff.
Expressing gratitude for his contributions, Fulham conveyed their appreciation for Boa Morte’s dedication since his return and extended their best wishes for his upcoming venture.
The club bid farewell, noting that his departure will coincide with the season’s conclusion following their last match against Luton Town.
At 46 years old, the former Portuguese international boasts a distinguished playing career, having represented clubs such as Arsenal, Southampton, and West Ham United in the Premier League.
During his time at Fulham, Boa Morte left an indelible mark, scoring 54 goals across 250 appearances for the London-based club.
As he embarks on this new chapter, both Fulham and its supporters reflect fondly on Boa Morte’s contributions, recognizing his pivotal role within the club’s coaching setup and wishing him success in his managerial endeavors with Guinea Bissau.
Boa Morte will replace Baciro Cande, who was dismissed following a disastrous campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
