Fulham pursuit of Chibuike Nwaiwu continues after rejected bid

Fulham have had a second offer for Trabzonspor defender Chibuike Nwaiwu rejected, as the Turkish club continue to hold firm on their valuation of the Nigerian international following an impressive season in the Süper Lig.

The Premier League side are reported to have submitted a bid worth €25 million, with an additional €3 million in performance-related bonuses, taking the total package to €28 million.

However, according to Fanatik, the offer was turned down by Trabzonspor, who remain unwilling to sanction a sale at that figure.

The latest approach follows an earlier bid of €20 million that was also rejected, underlining the Turkish club’s firm stance in ongoing negotiations.

Trabzonspor are understood to be demanding between €30 million and €35 million for the 22-year-old defender, who played a key role in their successful campaign last season. Club officials are reportedly determined not to let him leave unless their valuation is met.

Should a transfer eventually be agreed at the club’s asking price, Trabzonspor are expected to move quickly in the market to sign a replacement centre-back in order to reinforce their defensive line ahead of the new season.

Nwaiwu, who hails from Port Harcourt, established himself as an important figure in the squad during the previous campaign. He made 21 appearances across all competitions, contributing not only defensively but also in attack with three goals and one assist.

His performances have attracted attention beyond Turkey, with Fulham among the clubs monitoring his progress closely as they look to strengthen their defensive options.

Despite the rejection of their latest offer, the London club are believed to remain interested in the player, suggesting the transfer situation could continue to develop as the window progresses.

For now, Trabzonspor’s position remains unchanged, with the club determined to retain control of negotiations as they look to maximise the value of one of their standout performers from last season.
