Frosinone midfielder Ben Lhassine Koné has seen his initial three-match suspension reduced to two following a successful appeal, allowing him to return to action sooner than expected.
The Ivorian was sent off during Frosinone’s 1-1 draw against Salernitana on February 23 after striking an opponent in the face.
The Italian sports judge handed him a three-match suspension on February 25, a ruling that dealt a significant blow to the club as they continue their fight to avoid relegation from Serie B.
Frosinone’s appeal secures reduced ban
Determined to lessen the impact of Koné’s absence, Frosinone quickly lodged an appeal against the decision.
Their efforts paid off, with the Italian Football Federation reducing the suspension to two matches and imposing a €5,000 fine instead.
Having already missed Frosinone’s last two fixtures, Koné has now served his suspension in full and will be eligible for selection in the upcoming match against Brescia at the Benito Stirpe Stadium on Saturday.
A crucial boost for Frosinone
Koné’s return is a welcome boost for head coach Paolo Bianco as the team continues its battle to maintain its place in Serie B.
With the league entering a decisive phase, Frosinone will be hoping that the midfielder’s presence can help them secure vital points in the weeks ahead.
