Frosinone prepare contract talks with Fares Ghedjemis after Monaco interest

Frosinone are preparing to open discussions over Fares Ghedjemis’ contract after president Maurizio Sterpi criticised the approach of European clubs, including Monaco, towards the Algeria international.

Speaking to the Italian media after the match against Venezia, Sterpi expressed his frustration at the way some clubs had made direct contact with the 24-year-old forward. Monaco’s interest in Ghedjemis was first reported exclusively by Africafoot.

The Frosinone president also said he intended to meet the player’s agent soon to discuss his current contractual position. However, official negotiations between the relevant parties have not yet begun, according to Maghreb-Foot.

Agent confirms upcoming meeting

A formal meeting is nevertheless expected shortly, with a revaluation of Ghedjemis’ contract on the agenda. Sofiane Mahieddine, the winger’s agent, has confirmed that the meeting will take place soon.

The discussions are expected to consider whether Ghedjemis should commit to Frosinone for a longer period in Serie A. The club’s management is anticipating further approaches during the next winter transfer window and wants to resolve the situation quickly.

Frosinone’s intention is to increase the player’s market value while making him less attractive to potential buyers if he continues to perform at his current level in the Italian league.

Although no concrete agreement was reached during the most recent summer transfer window, the Montreuil-born player remains highly regarded in the European market. His performances in the coming Serie A matches are expected to influence the outcome of the talks between his agent and Frosinone’s directors.

Ghedjemis is under contract with Frosinone until 30 June 2028. He also attracted the attention of Besiktas during the summer, in another development reported exclusively by Africafoot.

Frosinone’s next fixture will be against Genoa in the fourth round of the Italian championship.
