Frosinone make club history as Como suffer first Serie A defeat

Frosinone handed Como their first defeat of the Serie A season with a 2-0 victory on matchday five, while Egypt defender Omar Fayed remained an unused substitute.

Giacomo Calo opened the scoring in the 14th minute, driving a powerful effort into the net from inside the penalty area.

Como were unable to respond before half-time and fell further behind in the third minute of first-half stoppage time. A swift Frosinone counter-attack ended with Giorgi Kvernadze finishing calmly to double the hosts’ advantage.

The result also marked the first match in which Como have failed to score this season.

Frosinone’s victory saw them reach 10 points from their opening five matches, setting a new club record in Serie A. Manager Massimiliano Alvini’s side surpassed the previous best start, set in the 2023-2024 season when the club collected eight points from its first five games.

Frosinone moved up to fifth in the table on 10 points, while Como remain sixth with the same total.

Como missed the opportunity to move level on points with Roma and Inter after those sides drew 2-2. They also failed to catch Lazio, who defeated Venezia 2-0.
