Danish club Nordsjaelland have reached an agreement with UAE side Al Jazira to sign Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel on loan for the rest of the current season, with an option to buy.
The move gives the 24-year-old a fresh chance to establish himself in European football after a mixed spell in Abu Dhabi. Adel joined Al Jazira last summer from Pyramids amid big expectations in Egypt and the Arab world but has struggled to make a decisive impact, featuring in 11 games without scoring or assisting.
His absence from Al Jazira’s last two league matches only fueled speculation that a transfer was imminent.
Nordsjaelland, currently eighth in the Danish Superliga with 24 points, see Adel as a key piece to boost their push for higher positions in the second half of the campaign.
The deal has sparked wider debate in Egypt because Nordsjaelland are owned by Egyptian businessman Mohamed Mansour, brother of Al Ahly vice-president Yassin Mansour. That connection has revived talk that Adel’s move could be a stepping stone toward a long-rumoured transfer to Al Ahly, who have tried to sign him several times in recent years.
For now, though, the focus is on Adel proving his talent in Denmark and using this European platform to push his career to the next level.
