Honduras Lose 2-0 to Turkey in World Cup Warm-up
Honduras, France’s first opponent at the 2014 World Cup, faced a setback in their preparations after a 2-0 friendly defeat to Turkey on Thursday.
Goals came late in the match with Mevlut Erding of Saint-Étienne opening the scoring in the 70th minute. Erding later assisted Caner Erkin for the second goal in the 83rd minute.
Colombian coach Luis Fernando Suarez acknowledged that the team still has a lot to improve, mentioning fitness concerns:
“Some players are not yet fit.”
Honduras will next face Israel on Sunday in Houston and England on June 7 in Miami as part of their final preparations.
