Club Africain Edge Past Victoria Guimaraes in Portuguese Friendly
Club Africain continued their pre-season preparations with a narrow 1-0 victory over Portuguese side Victoria Guimaraes on Wednesday afternoon. The Tunisian Ligue 1 champions secured the win thanks to a decisive strike from young forward Chiheb Zoghlami, who found the net after 60 minutes of play.
The match took place in Portugal, where Daniel Sanchez’s squad has been training since Monday, July 28. The team will remain there until August 4, using the training camp as a key part of their build-up to the new Tunisian Ligue 1 season, which is set to kick off between August 10 and 14.
This friendly marked the first of several scheduled warm-up matches against Portuguese opposition, with Club Africain set to face two more local teams before returning home. The club’s French head coach, Daniel Sanchez, has brought 27 players on the trip, although Algerian international striker Abdelmoumen Djabou is notably absent as he is expected to leave the club soon.
Looking ahead, Club Africain will travel to face ES Metlaoui in their opening Ligue 1 fixture on Sunday, August 10, kicking off their title defence on the back of an intensive and carefully planned pre-season campaign.
The team’s training stint in Portugal aims to sharpen fitness levels and integrate new tactical ideas under Sanchez’s leadership, as they prepare to compete both domestically and in continental competitions.
