Toulouse and Club Africain Share the Spoils in Tunis Friendly
Toulouse FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Club Africain of Tunisia in a pre-season friendly played on Saturday at the historic Chedly-Zouiten Stadium in Tunis. The match served as part of the French side’s preparations ahead of the 2024–25 Ligue 1 season, which kicks off on August 8.
Both goals came from the penalty spot in a competitive encounter. Toulouse opened the scoring in the 18th minute when striker Wissam Ben Yedder converted a spot-kick after a foul on midfielder Étienne Didot. The early lead gave TFC the advantage, but the hosts gradually grew into the match.
Club Africain responded in the second half and were awarded a penalty of their own in the 75th minute, which captain Abdelmoumen Belaïd calmly dispatched to level the score. The result reflects a balanced contest, with both teams using the match to test fitness and integrate tactical adjustments.
The friendly also provided Toulouse manager Carles Martinez Novell an opportunity to assess his squad depth and build cohesion ahead of the Ligue 1 opener. Club Africain, meanwhile, demonstrated resilience and quality against European opposition, offering a positive sign as they continue their domestic pre-season.
