Fresh injury blow for Alphonso Davies at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have suffered another setback with the news that Alphonso Davies will miss this weekend’s away trip to Wolfsburg after picking up yet another muscle injury in a stop-start season.

“Alphonso Davies is out tomorrow. Based on the examinations, we will see how long he will be sidelined. It is a muscle problem,” head coach Vincent Kompany confirmed at his Friday press conference, making clear the club is still waiting on full test results.

The 25-year-old is now facing the possibility that his campaign could be cut short, having managed only 23 competitive appearances so far this season. Davies already lost most of the first half of the year while recovering from a cruciate ligament tear sustained in March 2025, and his attempts to get back to his best have been repeatedly interrupted. He suffered a torn muscle fiber in February followed by a thigh strain in March, and this latest issue adds to a worrying pattern of setbacks for the Canadian.

Bayern are also unsure whether Davies will recover in time for the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart on May 23, with his participation now in serious doubt. The club will hope further examinations bring better news but, for now, they must prepare for the run-in without their dynamic left-back.
