French-Togolese defender Marvin Senaya joins AJ Auxerre on long-term deal

French-Togolese defender Marvin Senaya joins AJ Auxerre on long-term deal

Marvin Senaya has officially signed with AJ Auxerre, putting pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029.

The 24-year-old right-back joins from RC Strasbourg and will wear the number 29 shirt.

Born in France and of Togolese descent, Senaya is a product of the Strasbourg youth system. He began his professional journey on loan at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard during the 2021–2022 campaign, where he gained valuable first-team experience.

Following that, he spent a successful loan spell at Rodez, where his dynamic performances earned him a reputation as one of the most reliable full-backs in Ligue 2.

Senaya made his Ligue 1 debut with Strasbourg before returning to Rodez, where his consistency and work rate stood out. In the 2022–2023 season, he featured in 32 matches in France’s top flight, establishing himself as a dependable option on the right flank.

However, the following season saw a reduction in playing time, with just 10 Ligue 1 appearances before being loaned out to Swiss side Lausanne Sport in February.

Throughout his career so far, Senaya has showcased qualities that have made him a sought-after defensive talent—speed, athleticism, and tactical intelligence.

With over 100 professional appearances across France and Switzerland, he arrives at Auxerre with both youth and experience on his side.

His ability to transition quickly between defence and attack makes him a valuable asset in modern full-back roles.

Auxerre, who are building for a strong future, view Senaya as a key addition to their defensive unit. The club’s leadership expressed confidence that his profile fits the long-term vision and ambition of the team.

With a contract running until the summer of 2029, Senaya is expected to play a pivotal role in their plans moving forward.

Though he has represented France at youth levels, his Togolese heritage continues to draw attention in Lomé, where fans of the national team, the Éperviers, hope to one day see him in Togo’s colours on the international stage.

While he has yet to make a senior international appearance, the possibility of representing Togo remains open and eagerly anticipated by supporters.

Senaya’s move to Auxerre represents more than just a change of clubs—it is a strategic step in a career marked by steady development and increasing responsibility.

With his pace, resilience, and versatility, he is well-positioned to flourish in his new environment and contribute meaningfully to the team’s ambitions in the coming seasons.

Auxerre now count on Senaya not only to strengthen their backline but also to bring leadership and energy to a young squad aiming to make its mark.

His arrival signals intent from the club as they continue to shape a competitive and forward-looking team for the future.
