France defender of Senegalese and Guinea-Bissau descent, Ferland Mendy, has been ruled out of action for the remainder of the 2024/25 football season.
The 29-year-old has suffered a rupture of the proximal tendon of the anterior rectum in the right quadriceps.
He is expected to spend months on the sidelines due to the injury but will return for new season 2025/26.
Real Madrid officials are hoping that he will recover in time before the team embarks on pre-season training.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Camavinga has also been ruled out of action for the rest of the season.
The injuries to the two players are a big blow to the Los Blancos, who have struggled to compete for trophies this season.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to deal with the other players in his squad in the remainder of the season.
The club has already missed out on the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League trophies.
The club, however, has a chance to fight for the La Liga title.
