Stade Rennes have extended the contract of promising midfielder Djaoui Cissé until 2029, solidifying their commitment to nurturing young talent from their esteemed academy.

The 21-year-old has quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad, earning regular starts since the arrival of manager Habib Beye.

Rapid Rise to Prominence

Cissé’s breakthrough came when Beye handed him a starting role against Strasbourg, and since then, he has featured consistently in the Rennes lineup, missing only one match against Paris Saint-Germain due to suspension. His performances have been instrumental in the club’s midfield, reflecting the trust placed in him by the coaching staff.

Rennes’ Continued Focus on Academy Talent

The extension of Cissé’s contract is part of Rennes’ broader strategy to integrate homegrown players into the first team. Alongside Jérémy Jacquet, who returned from a loan spell at Clermont, Cissé represents the club’s emphasis on developing its academy prospects.

Rennes’ youth system is widely regarded as one of the finest in France, and with back-to-back seasons without European qualification, the club is looking inward to build for the future.

Cissé Grateful for Club’s Support

Speaking to the club’s official website, Cissé expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and the faith shown in him by the coaching staff.

“The past two months have been incredible for me. I try to repay the trust of the coach and the staff in every match,” he said. “I am fortunate to be in a fantastic dressing room, surrounded by experienced players, especially Seko Fofana, who gives me a lot of valuable advice.”

While his journey is still in its early stages, Cissé’s contract extension signals Rennes’ belief in his potential to play a major role in the club’s long-term ambitions.
