Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has disclosed that the club has presented him with a new contract offer, but he refrained from sharing details about his potential decision.
The 25-year-old’s current contract at Anfield is set to expire in 2026, and Liverpool is keen to secure his services for the long term.
Since joining Liverpool in 2021, the French international of Malian descent has become an integral part of the team’s defense, amassing a total of 112 appearances.
His performances have solidified his status as a key player within the squad, prompting the club to pursue an extension.
When approached by reporters on Monday regarding the contract offer, Konate confirmed its existence with a straightforward “Yeah.”
However, when pressed for information about how close he was to signing, he cleverly sidestepped the question, stating, “That’s another conversation!”
Konate’s remarks come during a critical period for Liverpool, as the club is also engaged in negotiations with other prominent players, including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are facing contract expirations in the near future.
