French-Ivorian winger Tanguy Coulibaly joins Samsunspor
Samsunspor have completed the signing of winger Tanguy Coulibaly from Montpellier, with the French-Ivorian committing to a contract that runs until June 2028.
The Turkish Süper Lig club confirmed the deal, which is understood to be worth €1.5m, marking a fresh chapter for the 24-year-old who previously featured in both Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga.
Coulibaly described his move as a decisive step in his career, emphasising the clarity and ambition of Samsunspor’s project.
I needed a new challenge, and Samsunspor offered me a clear and ambitious project, he said. The management showed me that they were counting on me to be an important player.
The former Paris Saint-Germain academy product said he was motivated not only by the sporting project but also by the opportunity to connect with Samsunspor’s famously passionate supporters.
My goal is simple: to help the team progress and showcase my attacking skills, Coulibaly added. I want to score, create chances, and bring my experience from Ligue 1 to the table. I know Samsunspor has incredible fans. I can’t wait to experience that enthusiasm and repay their trust on the pitch.
Coulibaly arrives in Turkey with valuable experience from Europe’s top leagues.
After leaving PSG without making a senior appearance, he built his reputation in Germany with VfB Stuttgart before moving to Montpellier in 2023.
His time in France’s top flight allowed him to refine his game, but he now sees the Süper Lig as the right environment to take the next step in his career.
At 24, Coulibaly retains significant potential to grow, with Transfermarkt currently valuing him at €1.5m.
Samsunspor will be hoping his pace, technical ability and direct style of play can add a new dimension to their attacking options as they look to establish themselves more firmly in the Turkish top flight.
The winger’s arrival also underscores Samsunspor’s strategy of recruiting players with experience in Europe’s major leagues to strengthen their competitiveness.
For Coulibaly, the move represents both continuity in his upward trajectory and a challenge to adapt quickly to a new footballing culture.
Having already expressed confidence in his ability to make an impact, Coulibaly’s performances will be closely followed by both supporters and analysts eager to see how his Ligue 1 and Bundesliga background translates to the Süper Lig.
With the deal now sealed, Samsunspor fans will not have to wait long to watch their new signing in action as the club prepares for the upcoming fixtures.
