French-Ivorian defender Wesley Fofana deletes all Chelsea posts in wild social media move
Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has sparked widespread speculation after deleting all mentions of the club from his Instagram account, a move interpreted by many fans as a clear message to the Blues hierarchy.
The French centre back of Ivorian descent, was left on the bench during Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace last Sunday.

New recruits including Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro all featured ahead of him, leaving questions about Fofana’s role under new manager Enzo Maresca.
Fofana has endured a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge, plagued by injuries since joining the club, and his social media activity follows comments made by Maresca after the pre-season clash with Bournemouth.
The Italian admitted he was seeking another centre back and gave a damning assessment of Fofana’s performance.
“Wes played 45 minutes in that position. It was the first half against Bournemouth away. Probably one of the worst halves since we started,” Maresca said.
The defender missed the entire 2023–24 campaign under Mauricio Pochettino due to a long-term injury and has struggled to secure consistent playing time across Chelsea’s rotating managerial setups.
His latest exclusion, paired with the rise of 18-year-old Josh Acheampong, has intensified doubts about his future in West London.
Acheampong’s commanding display against Palace highlighted Chelsea’s faith in younger talent, a development that could further marginalise Fofana.
With just weeks left before the transfer window closes, his deleted posts have only fueled rumours that he could seek an exit this summer.
Fofana’s career at Chelsea has so far been defined more by setbacks than breakthroughs, and his recent actions suggest growing frustration.
