Alassane Pléa has completed a transfer to PSV Eindhoven, joining the Dutch champions on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until June 2027.
The 32-year-old French striker moves to the Eredivisie after a seven-year spell at Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he made a significant mark in the Bundesliga.
The transfer, reported to be worth around €3 million with potential bonuses, is seen as a strategic addition to strengthen PSV’s attack ahead of a demanding domestic and European campaign.
Pléa arrives as PSV’s sixth signing of the summer window, following the arrivals of Nick Olij, Yarek Gasiorowski, Ruben van Bommel, Matej Kovar, and Killian Sildillia. His acquisition is part of the club’s wider efforts to build a competitive squad capable of defending their Eredivisie title and making an impact in the UEFA Champions League.
During his time at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Pléa made 236 appearances in all competitions and scored 68 goals.
In league play, he was directly involved in 96 goals—58 scored and 38 assisted—highlighting his consistent contribution to one of Germany’s top sides. Few players in the Bundesliga recorded better attacking statistics over that same period.
The Frenchman’s versatility has been praised by PSV’s football leadership, with the player capable of operating across the front line.
His ability to play as a centre-forward, on either wing, or behind the striker offers manager Peter Bosz multiple tactical options.
Pléa will be joined up front by American forward Ricardo Pepi, forming a partnership expected to add both flair and experience to the squad.
Speaking about his decision to join PSV, Pléa cited the club’s ambitions, its style of play, and his familiarity with manager Peter Bosz as decisive factors. He expressed excitement about working under a coach whose tactical approach aligns with his own playing philosophy. The French-speaking Bosz was also highlighted as a comfort factor in the striker’s transition to Dutch football.
Pléa began his professional career in France, coming through the ranks at Lyon before spells at Auxerre and OGC Nice. His move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2018 came with a then-record transfer fee, and he quickly became a key figure in the club’s attacking line-up. His time in Germany was marked by memorable performances in both domestic and European competition.
At PSV, Pléa is expected to bring leadership and composure to a relatively young squad. With the club preparing for a packed fixture schedule that includes the Eredivisie, Dutch Cup, and Champions League, his presence adds depth and experience in crucial moments.
As preparations for the new season ramp up, Pléa’s integration into the squad will be closely monitored. PSV’s supporters will be eager to see whether the experienced Frenchman can replicate his Bundesliga form and contribute to another successful campaign in Eindhoven.
