French-Guinean midfielder Abdoulaye Dabo trains with FC Nantes reserves as he eyes summer return to French football

Abdoulaye Dabo has returned to FC Nantes’ training ground at La Jonelière, where the 24-year-old midfielder is currently training with the club’s reserve squad as he prepares for the next chapter in his career.

After ending his stint with Turkish second-division side Adanaspor, Dabo has reconnected with the club where he began his professional journey.

The midfielder parted ways with Adanaspor following contractual issues, with reports indicating unpaid wages were the cause behind the early termination.

Now back on familiar turf, he is focused on maintaining his fitness and readiness ahead of the summer transfer window.

Dabo, who hails from the Bellevue district in Nantes, is no stranger to the Canaries. He emerged from the club’s youth academy and was once regarded as one of its most promising prospects.

His early displays caught attention for their technical finesse and tactical intelligence, leading to a professional debut with Nantes at just 16 years old.

However, after a series of short-lived stints abroad, Dabo is now at a career crossroads. His journey has taken him from Nantes to Italy, where he joined Juventus’ U23 side, and later to Greece before landing in Turkey.

While the moves were intended to provide him with more first-team opportunities, consistency eluded him, and off-the-pitch complications in Turkey only compounded the challenges.

His current presence at Nantes is not part of a formal contract, but an arrangement that allows him to train and stay in peak condition.

The club has opened its doors to a player who, despite past departures, maintains a deep connection to both the team and the city.

According to sources close to the situation, Dabo has already begun drawing interest from several Ligue 2 clubs, making a return to French football increasingly plausible.

His experience abroad, coupled with his foundational years at Nantes, may make him an attractive low-risk acquisition for sides looking to strengthen their midfield options this summer.

Intriguingly, the possibility of a full return to FC Nantes has not been ruled out. Although there are currently no indications of negotiations between the player and the club’s senior management, the idea of a free transfer is reportedly on the table.

Given his knowledge of the club’s system and his enduring ties to the local community, a reunion could be mutually beneficial if Dabo shows positive form in the coming weeks.

For now, the midfielder is keeping a low profile, focusing entirely on regaining rhythm and sharpness. As the summer window approaches, his priority remains finding a club that offers stability and a genuine platform for relaunching his career.

Whether that next step will keep him in yellow and green or take him elsewhere in France remains to be seen, but for Abdoulaye Dabo, the road to professional redemption has started where it all began—at La Jonelière.
