French-Congolese striker Arnaud Kalimuendo emerges as January target for goal-shy Roma

Roma have set their sights on Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo as they prepare to strengthen their attack in the January transfer window.

The Italian side have struggled for goals this season, and the French-Congolese forward has emerged as a serious option to solve their problems up front.

Kalimuendo, who was born in France to Congolese parents, joined Nottingham Forest in the summer for €30 million after two prolific campaigns at Rennes, where he netted 33 goals across two seasons.

However, his move to the Premier League has not gone according to plan.

The 23-year-old has found himself on the fringes of the squad and has struggled to adapt to English football.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma view the situation as an opportunity.

The club’s hierarchy believe a short-term deal could benefit both sides — a loan move with an option to buy would give Kalimuendo the chance to rediscover form while allowing Forest to preserve the player’s market value.

Interestingly, the connection between the two clubs could help facilitate negotiations.

Nottingham Forest’s current CEO, Lina Souloukou, previously held the same position at Roma and maintains strong relations with the Giallorossi.

Roma’s need for a striker has become urgent, with their current forwards struggling to convert chances in Serie A.

Manager Daniele De Rossi is reportedly keen on adding pace and creativity to his front line, and Kalimuendo fits the profile of a young, dynamic attacker capable of operating both as a central striker and on the wings.

The forward is tied to Nottingham Forest until 2030, but if his situation does not improve by January, a temporary switch to Italy could be on the cards — one that offers both a fresh start for Kalimuendo and a timely boost for Roma’s misfiring attack.
