Vicky Kiankaulua’s decisive performance helped Patro Eisden secure a 2-1 victory over Beveren in the second leg of the Belgian Second Division promotion play-off semi-final, sealing their place in the final with a 5-3 aggregate win.
Building on their narrow 3-2 triumph in the first leg, Patro Eisden entered the return fixture needing to hold their ground against a determined Beveren side. Kiankaulua, who had already scored in the first leg, once again proved instrumental.
The forward opened the scoring in the 37th minute, delivering a critical away goal that shifted the momentum firmly in his team’s favour.
That strike forced Beveren to chase the game, opening up space in their defensive line. Patro Eisden took full advantage, exploiting the gaps to double their lead and effectively put the tie out of reach.
Kiankaulua’s fifth goal of the season came at a crucial time and could prove to be one of the most significant of his campaign, especially when paired with his earlier effort in the home leg.
Throughout the match, Patro Eisden demonstrated composure and tactical discipline. Rarely troubled by Beveren’s attempts to mount a comeback, the visitors capitalized on their early breakthrough and managed the game effectively to see out the result.
Their qualification means Patro Eisden will now face Lokeren Temse in the promotion final, a team featuring Jeovanni Dianganga and known for their consistency throughout the season.
The first leg is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, with the return leg to be played on Sunday, May 11. Both matches are expected to be tightly contested, given the strong form of the two sides.
Kiankaulua’s recent performances will undoubtedly be a point of focus as Patro Eisden prepare for their final hurdle in the push for promotion.
With confidence high and momentum on their side, the team will be looking to the forward once more to lead their charge toward the Belgian top flight.
