French-Congolese forward Christopher Nkunku transfer to AC Milan from Chelsea in final stages

Christopher Nkunku’s move from Chelsea to AC Milan is nearing completion, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that negotiations between the two clubs are at an advanced stage.

The French-Congolese forward, who has struggled to cement a place under Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge, is on the verge of sealing a switch to Serie A in search of more consistent playing time.

Born in France to Congolese parents, Nkunku has long been seen as one of Europe’s most technically gifted attackers.

Despite flashes of his quality, persistent injuries and tactical changes at Chelsea have restricted his impact.

Now, with AC Milan seeking attacking reinforcements before the close of the transfer window, the 27-year-old appears set for a fresh start in Italy.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the agreement is effectively in place.

“Christopher Nkunku and AC Milan, the agreement on five year deal is done as revealed,” Romano wrote on X. “Nkunku wants AC Milan and talks with Chelsea are underway, continuing today.”

Nkunku’s determination to leave has been driven largely by a desire for regular first-team action. His opportunities in London have been limited, and with Chelsea continuing to reshape their squad, he has fallen further down the pecking order.

Milan, meanwhile, see him as a versatile attacker capable of operating across the frontline, bringing pace, creativity, and finishing power to Max Allegri’s side.

The San Siro club are not alone in their interest. RB Leipzig, where Nkunku enjoyed his most prolific spell in the Bundesliga, have explored the possibility of bringing him back, while Bayern

Munich previously had a loan proposal rejected. However, Milan are now in pole position, and with all sides pushing for a resolution, the deal is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
