French-Congolese defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu set to leave Leipzig on loan in January

French defender of Congolese descent, El Chadaille Bitshiabu, is expected to leave RB Leipzig on loan during the January transfer window as he seeks more regular playing time.

According to Bild, Leipzig are open to a temporary move for the 20-year-old, who has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season under new head coach Ole Werner.

Bitshiabu has featured just once in the Bundesliga so far, spending only 20 minutes on the pitch, a sharp contrast to last season, when he ended the campaign as a regular starter.

The young centre-back joined Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 for around €15 million and has since made 37 appearances for the German club.

Despite his limited minutes this term, he remains highly regarded as a long-term defensive prospect.

There could, however, be a brief chance for him to feature this weekend, with Castello Lukeba sidelined through injury ahead of Leipzig’s clash against TSG Hoffenheim.
