France international Jules Kounde has shared his first impressions of new teammate Marcus Rashford, describing the Manchester United loanee as introverted but increasingly at ease at Barcelona.
Kounde, who was born in France and has Beninese heritage, spoke about Rashford’s early days at the Catalan club following his high-profile loan move from Manchester United.
The deal includes a £30 million purchase option for Barcelona, who are hoping the England forward finds top form during his stint at Camp Nou.
In an interview with Sport, Kounde said the 27-year-old forward is integrating well into the squad despite a quiet personality.
“He’s a bit introverted, but he’s really enjoying himself, and feeling more and more comfortable. I think he is happy,” Kounde said.
“He is smiling a lot. He is happy in the field. He reminds me a little of myself. He’s a bit introverted, but he’s enjoying himself a lot, and I think he’s feeling more and more comfortable.”
Kounde added that Rashford’s transition has been aided by the club’s welcoming environment.
“Everyone has welcomed him very warmly. He’s talking to everyone. I think he’s very comfortable. As I speak English, I’m trying to help him as best I can, but I think everyone is doing that.”
Rashford’s arrival has generated optimism among Barcelona fans, with hopes that the England international can rediscover his best form and contribute significantly to the team’s attack this season.
