French-Angolan defender Castello Lukeba open to RB Leipzig departure next summer

French-Angolan defender Castello Lukeba could be on the move next summer as several European clubs continue to monitor his situation at RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old centre back has been repeatedly linked with Bayern Munich in recent months, with the German champions reportedly keeping a close eye on his development.

According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, Lukeba is open to taking the next step in his career during the upcoming summer transfer window. His performances have attracted attention from a number of top clubs across Europe.

Despite the growing interest, Lukeba remains under contract with RB Leipzig until 2029. The defender’s current deal includes a release clause valued at €80 million. However, reports indicate that the Bundesliga club could be willing to negotiate a transfer for a fee in the region of €70 million.

Bayern Munich are said to still have Lukeba on their shortlist, with sporting director Max Eberl believed to be a strong admirer of the player. The club is reportedly continuing to track the defender’s progress closely.

For now, though, a move to Munich appears unlikely. Plettenberg suggests that the high transfer fee and Bayern’s current squad situation are among the factors making a potential deal difficult at this stage.
