Former Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema’s much-talked-about transfer to Saudi giants Al Hilal has collapsed, Africasoccer can report.
A close source has reported that the French striker of Algerian descent will remain at Al Ittihad Jeddah and will not be leaving the club during the current winter transfer window.
This development comes after widespread claims in recent hours suggesting that Benzema was on the verge of switching to the Riyadh-based side.
Despite strong indications that the former Real Madrid star was close to donning Al Hilal’s blue colours, negotiations ultimately broke down following unresolved disagreements with Al Ittihad’s management.
Benzema joined Al Ittihad in the summer of 2023 after ending his legendary spell at Real Madrid. Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, the Ballon d’Or winner has enjoyed success with the Jeddah club, playing a key role in their domestic double triumph as they lifted both the Saudi Pro League title and the King’s Cup last season
